In 2012, the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation awarded RWii a $5,000 grant to conduct an exhaustive report that measures the local creative economy.
This was a unique study and unlike most economic studies, it measured a relatively intangible metric. It is common to measure manufacturing or service economies, but a measure of the creative economy had never been attempted before.
So were the results of the study? Goodhue County is lagging both like-sized communities, other communities with similar natural amenities and neighboring communities.
In other words, there is plenty of upside potential in the local creative economy.
