Red Wing Work of Art frequently asked questions.

=====

Q: What is ‘Red Wing Work of Art’?

A: It is a professional development curriculum designed to teach business skills to artists in all disciplines — visual, performing and literary arts.

It is a complete curriculum, from career planning, portfolio building, marketing, promoting, social media, legal and fund raising.

=====

Q: What is the cost of the workshops?

A: $150 for all 12 workshops (plus $9 service charge).  The program is designed as a ‘cohort’ process, in which you attend all 12 workshops collectively as a group, hopefully building a artistic network that extends beyond these workshops.

This program can only be possible through the generous support of various foundations (see below).  It was with this support that RWii has been able to bring these workshops to Red Wing.

=====

Q: Can the classes be taken on an “a-la carte” basis?

A: No.  the workshops are meant to be taken in sequence.  The idea is to provide a complete business education for artists and some of the workshop material  assumes you have taken previous courses in the workshop series.

After completing all twelve workshops, attendees will receive ‘Red Wing Work of Art’ accreditation, which will be useful for continuing one-on-one education and for grant application purposes.

=====

Q: Who will be teaching the workshops?

A: Springboard for the Arts has been contracted to provide the workshop education using their ‘Work of Art‘ model.  Springboard has a national reputation for providing economic tools for artists and have developed the Work of Art program over five years and dozens of completed workshops.

=====

Q: I can’t attend all four weekends.  Can a friend attend in my absence for one or two weekends?

A: That seems like a reasonable request.  Please contact RWii (RedWingInnovate@gmail.com or 651-380-1501) to make arrangements.

=====

Q: Will meals be provided?

A: No, but we are working with several local restaurants to secure some kind of Red Wing Work Of Art discount for meals.  Stay tuned for details.

=====

Q: Will housing be available for out of town attendees?

A: Yes!  But on a very limited basis some local volunteers have made spare bedrooms available.  Please contact RWii.

=====

Q: I am from out of town.  Will there be any Friday evening entertainment scheduled?

A: This might be the best part!  We have a block party, an alley cat party and a pizza party planned.  We cannot decide between a rodeo or a square dance for the remaining unscheduled weekend.

=====

Q: Are scholarships or discounts available?

A: Possibly, but it would be done on a case-by-case basis based on need.  Please contact RWii (RedWingInnovate@gmail.com or 651-380-1501) to make arrangements.

=====

A: Who is funding this project?

Q: The primary funders are the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, the Blandin Foundation, the Red Wing Area Fund and the Red Wing Innovation Incubator.  ArtReach and Springboard for the Arts are fiscal agents for this project.

=====

A: What is the workshop schedule and locations?

Q: The workshop venues change each weekend to show off Red Wing’s cultural assets.  So please pay close attention to the schedule.
